The 24-hour motor race at Le Mans is considered to be the toughest in the world, subjecting both man and material to the acid test. One particularly critical area is the large number of sensitive electronic connections. To protect these connections from heat and mechanical strain, many teams use a TecFlex stainless steel structure. TecFlex has superb anti-corrosion qualities, as well as being highly flexible and extremely resistant to wear and tear.
How does a TecFlex pipe turn into a high-quality writing instrument? Through partnership. This concept has been implemented by a joint project by Porsche Design and Faber-Castell. The Porsche Design writing instruments are available with the option of two precious metals, uniting excellent usefulness, classic aesthetics and exclusiveness.
Stainless steel is a fascinating combination of nickel, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten. Its special qualities include resistance to wear and tear and an almost unlimited durability of the surface. Moreover, a stainless steel structure can take quite a few knocks, while at the same time being surprisingly supple – thanks to TecFlex technology.
The qualities of the stainless steel structure are unique enough, but their combination with threads of gold adds further brilliance. The threads have a silver coat and are covered by a lavish layer of 585-type fine plated gold (= 14 carat). All other metal parts have high-quality silver plating, together with a layer of palladium, and the satin-finished shine harmonizes superbly with the shape and function of the instrument.
